Our team wrapped up another amazing swim season at the Pacific Coast League Championships this past week! We had the most competitors out of any team and had way too many amazing swims to name individually! Special congrats to:

GIRLS VARSITY DIVISION
Our Girls Varsity Division finished in second place but had SO MANY AMAZING INDIVIDUAL AND RELAY PERFORMANCES! This was an incredibly fast meet, and second place is something to be incredibly proud of! Congrats to our League Champions:

  • Girls A Medley Relay of Julia Cho, Phoebe Yeh, Zara Masud, and Rin Hoshina! CIF-Automatic Time!
  • Zara Masud (200 Freestyle League Champion by FOUR SECONDS!)
  • Zara Masud (100 Butterfly League Champion.. ALMOST A TEAM RECORD!)
  • Girls A 200 Freestyle Relay of Ella Suh, Rin Hoshina, Addison Gramlich and Phoebe Yeh! (SUCH A CLOSE FINISH)
  • Girls A 400 Freestyle Relay of Anagha Kondury, Phoebe Yeh, Julia Cho, and Zara Masud!

Additionally, congrats to all of our amazing seniors and everyone who qualified for CIF! Our list of competitors and alternates for CIF this week includes:
Julia Cho, Addison Gramlich, Rin Hoshina, Anagha Kondury, Zara Masud, Olivia Nelson, Ella Suh, Daniela Walach, Melissa Wong, and Phoebe Yeh. 

GIRLS JV DIVISION
Our Girls JV Division WON THEIR THIRD CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE FINAL! We had nearly every swimmer qualify for the “A” Final of their event, and had several event winners! Special Congrats to our League Champions:

  • Girls A Medley Relay of Crystal Wu, Tiana Lin, Ella Rodriguez, and Ashley Niu! SO CLOSE to a League Record!
  • Girls A 200 Freestyle Relay of Megan Lee, Ashley Niu, Julia Tjia, and Tiana Lin! (AGAIN, SO CLOSE to a League Record!)
  • Crystal Wu (100 Backstroke League Champ!)
  • Tiana Lin (100 Breaststroke League Champ! (SO CLOSE TO A LEAGUE RECORD. AHHH)
  • Every single one of you who got a time improvement!

BOYS VARSITY DIVISION
Our Boys Varsity Division FINISHED IN SECOND PLACE! If you would have said that Woodbridge Boys Varsity would finish in second place a few years ago… you would have been laughed out of the room. These guys are INSANE and really brought their best to the PCL Championships. To put it in perspective- Portola Boys nearly won CIF Division 2 last year… and we crushed them. University has been a top 5 CIF Division 1 Team in the last few years… and we crushed them! Northwood WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP at few years ago… and we held our own and kept it competitive. SPECIAL Congrats to our event winners:

  • 50 Freestyle Champion IN A LEW LEAGUE RECORD (20.80): Jacob Wang!
  • 100 Freestyle Champion… narrowly holding off a charging Bulldog: JACOB WANG!
  • SWIMMER OF THE MEET AS VOTED BY COACHES: JACOB WANG
  • 200 Freestyle Relay Championship team of York Tang, Evan Wang, Cole Saeger, and Jacob Wang IN A NEW TEAM RECORD!
  • 400 Freestyle Relay Team of York Tang, Evan Wang, Cole Saeger, and Jacob Wang!(2nd Place… BUT IN A NEW TEAM RECORD!

Jake Gibson, Liam Goodemote, Kevin Guner, Robin Koehler, Dean Ko, Prinston Pan, Cole Saeger, York Tang, Darius Walach, Jacob Wang, and Evan Wang.

BOYS JV DIVISION
Our boys JV Division competed and finished in FOURTH PLACE at the Pacific Coast League Championships! This is our BEST PERFORMANCE BY FAR IN RECENT YEARS! Again, we had so many time improvements and fantastic relay performances. Special congratulations to our “B” 200 Freestyle Relay of Jake Tsai, Declan Tompkins, Ryan Deland, and Alex Lim for crushing the Consolation Final and winning their heat! Great job boys!

BOYS OPEN DIVISION
Our boys Open Division competed and brought the most swimmers out of any team in the Pacific Coast League! Nearly every swimmers had multiple time improvements, and we had several swimmers compete and complete events for the first time! These guys have improved so much and we are very proud of their effort this season and their performance at PCL!

GIRLS OPEN DIVISION
Our girls Open Division WON THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE FINAL! These girls have improved so much throughout the season, and it was such a pleasure to watch them compete and dominate at League Finals! Congrats to our event winner, Yana Sadiq (100 + 200 Freestyle), and our 200 Freestyle Relay team of Sophia Newton, Sam Lewis, Lulu Telleria, and Emily Manyukan.
